Persecution

I had a whole bunch of fun and crazy dreams last night. They really blended together and I couldn't make sense of them enough to write them down, accept for one sequence that was linear and made enough sense and seemed interesting.

______
Dream:
I was with a friend at some sort of mall or shopping area, discussing a movie we saw, more specifically about an attractive girl from the film. My friend (we'll call him Shawn) told me to wait a moment and he stepped into a nearby DVD store for about a minute. He must have bought it, but he came out with that movie in his hand. Shawn showed me the picture of the girl we were both talking about, she was on the back cover.

I commented on how beautiful she was, and I opened a book that I had been holding to a page with a sketch of a lock of hair on it. I guess the DVD cover smelled good or something but I said

"Her hair smells good too,"” and we were further commenting on it and we heard someone whimper nearby. I looked over and saw a girl who bore a similar resemblance to the one we were discussing. She began to cry as if she was trying to cope with the thought that someone might be planning to kidnap her. I realized this irony and said to her "“stupid girl, can't you see that we aren't talking about you?"” As I showed her the book and the DVD. Somehow, that didn't seem to help.

Someone is watching us.

"“This is going to be good,"” says the man, dressed like a private investigator from the old days. He's wearing a fedora hat and is writing things in a small notebook. He tells us something to the effect that we're in trouble... supposedly for "“conspiring"” to kidnap a girl. I showed him the DVD case and the page from the book to show him what we were actually talking about, and he took the book from my hands.

"“Give that back you idiot," I yell at him.

"“Evidence," is his only response. I start to worry that either way, there could soon be a warrant for me based on a bunch of trumped-up charges. I tell him a fake name, knowing that he probably won't believe it, because who voluntarily tells strangers their name? I take the book back from him, set it on a table, and grab him by the shoulders and start pushing him across the room. He only resists a little. All the time I am yelling at him,

"“You have absolutely no right to be taking other people's personal belongings! I don't want to hear anything you have to say about consequences or regulations!"” I push him through a doorway into another room, "Do you understand me?"” I slam the door as he responds,
"“Yes." Conveniently, there is a lock on my side of the door, which I immediately slide into position. The girl is no longer there, but I figure I should leave because I did see other people watching through that doorway. Suddenly only the back corner of the room was there, the rest was blending in with the outdoors. [Soon after, the dream sequence comes to an end.]

_________

I think the big theme in that sequence is persecution. Again, this is probably tied in or connected to the Landmark Six incident.
